Deviled Barbecue Sauce

About 1 ½ cups

1 cup tomato juice
¼ cup vinegar
2 tablespoons firmly-packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon instant minced onion
1 tablespoon salad oil
1 teaspoon powdered mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon ground red pepper
1 chicken or beef bouillon cube


In a small saucepan combine all ingredients; bring to the boiling point. Reduce heat and simmer until mixture thickens, about 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Use as basting sauce for barbecuing chicken, beef, lamb, veal or pork.
